EPIC works with the European Commission to translate industry needs into research and development programmes. EPIC owns and maintains the Photonic Technologies Roadmap. Through the ACCORD programme EPIC works with universities to train students on components and technologies that represent the new direction of the photonics market. Membership in EPIC is open to companies, research institutes, universities, and financial partners (such as banks or venture capital organisations ) having operations in the European economic area. This includes the countries of the European Community, the candidate countries, as well as all non-member European states like Switzerland.
