Random Pattern Generator FLEXPOINT MVstereo

11/08/2016

LASER COMPONENTS introduces its first random pattern generator, the FLEXPOINT® MV stereo series. The module projects a randomly ordered point cloud comprised of 33,000 individual dots and is initially available in two wavelengths – visible red (660 nm) and infrared (830 nm).

The laser is suitable for 3D stereo image processing: This technique calculates the volume of an object based on the position of dots that are simultaneously captured by two cameras from different angles. During digital image processing, image pixels of the same object are paired. To allow this technique being used on untextured surfaces of single-color, a point cloud is projected onto the object.

The laser power is adjusted to meet laser class 1 or 1M requirements. Microprocessor-controlled electronics featuring a serial interface work inside the MVstereo module. This interface can be used to program the laser or retrieve data.

OEM versions, developed and manufactured according to customer requirements, are available for special applications.
